Camp Dakota is a place, attitude and adventure for children living with arthritis and related rheumatic diseases. We have five full-time medial staff onsite 24 hours/day, including a pediatric rheumatologist. Medical staff provides general care, distributes medications, gives injections and interacts with all campers. Camp activities include – swimming, arts & crafts, challenge course, dance, campfire, climbing wall, archery, nature cabin, boating and more! We believe the cost of camp should not be the reason a child misses camp therefore the Arthritis Foundation has partnered with various organizations to provide a limited number of scholarships. Our goal is to provide a fun and safe experience for all our campers. Kids ages 7 thru 16 are eligibility to apply – to learn more information go to the Arthritis Foundation website.
Further, Camp Dakota offers a Counselor-In-Training (CIT) Program. It is a leadership program for past campers ages 15-16. CIT campers follow a specially designed schedule which focuses on independent skills and leadership activities. CITs have a unique opportunity to work alongside camp staff to develop camp activities, job-shadow staff and assist counselors. A CIT is technically still a camper and therefore bound by the same rules and guidelines as all campers. Again, to learn more information go the Arthritis Foundation website. |
